Revisiting Gratitude…again…

…and again, and again, every day, every way possible to keep my heart and soul from spiraling yet again out of control with all kinds of negative emotions and thoughts of retaliating in an eye-for-an-eye kind of way. Some days it’s soooo hard to demonstrate gratitude by offering compassion and empathy to some of the worst of the worst characters our current culture has to offer. From the all too prevalent and odious Trump personsas, to children (and adults) bullying other children (and other adults).  To sociopaths who practice fraud and lies to deprive good, decent, hardworking people out of the fruits of their life’s labor. This is a frightening world we live in now, where the gloves are off, where values, morality and integrity are mere words with no substance for so many. Where generosity and kindness are mocked as weakness and where merit has no intrinsic value in a world where entitlement rules supreme.

But rather than zoom down that all too familiar rabbit hole to achieve my own prescription for justice and well-deserved revenge, I must protect my health and well-being and travel down the road less traveled that leads me to the land where I want to live. Happily ever after, I might add. Where BFF’s care more for you than their empty social schedules. Where the frauds and conmen, along with all of their sycophantic hangers-on and wannabes, find no recourse for their devious, evil pursuits. Where the environment and all living beings are revered and protected, not out of duty or fear, but out of love and compassion because it’s the right thing to do. Because we are all a part of the fabric of life on this planet, the energy that sustains us if we are respectful and nurturing. Greed, power and monetary gain must not prevail if we are to survive. That day is coming sooner rather than later, as we poison our food sources, genetically engineer all kinds of things that will ultimately destroy life as we know it. Ego-driven politicians are threatening nuclear holocaust without owning the reality of what that really means to the planet…to all of us. I get so angry and frustrated because there is no compelling reason for any of this insanity, other than, of course, money and power. For the few at the expense of the many.

This dynamic must change, and I, for one, am going to go on a quest with my husband to create a life and a lifestyle where we can walk our lofty talk and ideals and surround ourselves with likeminded souls. If we ultimately do go up in a plume of radioactive smoke, so be it. At least we are going to be true to ourselves and our values to the sweetest of ends.

I am truly and profoundly grateful for all that I have, and especially for all that I have suffered. I am a better and more compassionate person as a result. Gratitude is so powerful when practiced every day…love, light and radiant health to you all!
