I feel so blessed to have been sent an angel to guide me through my Provence journey. She had read my blog the night before, and without telling me planned our first stop on our tour to be La Maison de Sante Saint-Paul-de-Mausole in San Remy. This historic site, which is still in operation today, is the mental institution where Vincent Van Gogh spent a year of his life and painted prolifically, including among other works, the painting of the Irises I have posted here. Of course, his art is much more stunning than my humble imitation, but imagine the goose bumps I felt seeing the “original” in the very place that it was conceived. I was moved to tears and knew that my choice to take this trip was meant to be, if for no other reason, than to experience this magical moment in the beauty of this bucolic asylum.
I called H when I got back to my maison and told him that if is ever going to commit me, I have the address! And if anyone is ever coming to Provence, you must contact Laurence…www.provence-exclusive.com
