As the darkness slowly recedes, I realize just how close to the end I am. Next Wednesday is my sixth and FINAL round of chemo. Technically, chemo is not the end of the journey, but it is the end of the worst part of the journey. I am already scheduled to see the radiologist to start radiation four weeks from next Wednesday. Since radiation is localized, the symptoms will be limited to possible skin irritation and extreme tiredness. Piece of cake. The hard part is getting through next Wednesday and the subsequent recovery period, that seems to be stretching to two plus weeks now. In answer to my prayers, two more angels are flying in (well, actually they’re driving in from Colorado) to see me through the Grande Finale. Sandra and Galen have graciously agreed to make the 1000 mile road trip to help me through this last phase. Sandra is a breast cancer survivor, and knows better than anyone what I have been through and what I have yet to go through. Sometimes it is hard to see the angels standing right in front of you when the Darkness drags you down, farther and farther, as the poisons do their work. My Blue Monkey Angel came into my life after my diagnosis, and I will forever be grateful for the strength, courage, love and vision he has gifted to me. I pray for his new chapter, and for the safe journey of my two Colorado angels. Love and light to all.
