And the Oscar goes to…

I feel like I hit the trifecta. Almost. Last night was a superb night with H…we both felt that it was the best night we have had together, maybe ever. At least in recent memory, chemo brain notwithstanding. And yes, it was topped off with an ooey, gooey souffle au chocolat!  Today we met with his oldest friend from Canada and his wife for another fabulous culinary experience at Malee’s, our favorite Thai restaurant in Scottsdale.  And tonight, the Oscars. It will be a low key celebration for us this year, just me and H. But in honor of my favorite awards show, H did not go to one of our events in Tucson (featuring Miguel) to spend the night with me critiquing the gowns, the hair and of course the winners. Extremely sweet, cuz tomorrow he flies out to Salt Lake for yet another show with Amy Grant and Cheryl Crowe. I always get excited for the Oscars, as star-struck and silly as it may sound.  It all goes back to my Hollywood days, when I had the opportunity to go to the Oscars once (many, many moons ago.)  The year that I was given tickets by my Hollywood Producer boss (who couldn’t be bothered to attend?!) was the only year in the history of the Oscars that the show had to be postponed for a day due to torrential rain and flooding in LA.  Sunday morning, I had gotten up like all the female attendees (famous and not, like me) to go to the salon, spend a small fortune on hair and make-up, dress up in the brand new, ridiculously expensive gown that I never wore again, only to be told at the last minute that the show must NOT go on – until the next night.  Very anti-climactic to do the whole routine over on Monday, by myself, in my own little boudoir, without professional expertise and the obligatory champagne. And BTW, if you are not up for an award, the show is really rather boring since you are put in the nose bleed seats and have to sit around for hours during commercial breaks and whatnot.  Much more fun to watch with your buddies at home with a mute button, great hors d’oeurvres and Moet Chandon.  So, there’s your Oscar trivia for the night, and enjoy the show!  Love and light ;))
